A PLACE TO VISIT
Home Chennai Home & Style comes to R A Puram
Home & Style has 10 new designers and a new address
A
GOOD hunting ground for the house proud, Home & Style has followers
for its lighting solutions, decorative bird cages and unusual accent
pieces. The only drawback was its location – tucked away in Velachery,
it was hard to access for most patrons. Owner Sujatha Giri, who used to
be in the hospitality industry, decided to do something about this and
has now moved to R A Puram. Plus, she has tweaked the home décor store
format to include 10 new designers of home and fashion. At the store,
which reopens this weekend, you will find names like Krsna Mehta’s India
Circus as well as the experimental Tungs10. While the former deals with
digital prints on polysilk and poly-suede, the latter sees folk art on
cushion covers, tea glasses and clocks. Air Castle, another brand from a
young designer from Lucknow, is also stocked here, as is the Italian
serveware label, Casa Robex. Most of the brands are only seen at
exhibitions or are retailed via Facebook, so Giri is quite thrilled
about being the first to stock them here. You could also take home
furniture sourced from Rajasthan or made to order.
Meanwhile, the fashion section follows the boudoir concept, and
showcases brands like Indian August for shibori and ikat kaftans,
Radha’s Daughters, Not Like You and Pipa+Bella, among others. Don’t miss
the handcrafted minaudieres from the currently trending Tarini Nirula.
And at the end of a well-spent morning at the store, you could hop over
to L’Amandier, which is across the road, for a cuppa.
Prices begin from Rs. 150 for a Kumbaya bag and `9,000 for a baby console. Details: 42011793
